Shenandoah

My daughter Kate moved down to Washington DC after college for a job. She loves to hike and spend time outdoors, so with fairly limited areas to be lost in the woods, she would venture out to Shenandoah National Park. As a sixtieth birthday surprise, my wife Jackie planned a visit to Washington DC. On our visit, Kate took my wife and I on a drive through the countryside of Virginia, and we stopped at a picnic area in Shenandoah for lunch. With my camera in hand, I was attracted to the midday sun shining through the trees onto the different rock formations and tall grasses.

The painting titled Shenandoah is an unusual subject matter for me considering it is outside of New England and that it is predominately green tones.
