Peaks Island
This painting is my most recent representation of the majestic island off the coast of Portland, ME. My wife and I continue to spend time on Peaks with our family. We buzz around on golf carts laughing with the locals and sit on our family’s cottage porch enjoying good wine and lively conversations. The inspiration of this particular scene was the unique rock formations that make up much of the island coastline. While most people overlook a typical rock formation, I see a mix of texture and a myriad of colors far beyond the simple gray. In order to capture a scene worth months of painting, I leave my family four or five times a day to take pictures in all different lighting. I enjoy this quiet time just being in with nature.
